[on how similar the world of art is to film] Film is way different. When you’re 20ft tall on a massive screen and you’re seeing people’s lives played out on it, it’s different from a nice painting. Film is important; it can be more than reportage or a novel - it creates images people have never seen before, never imagined they’d see, maybe because they needed someone else to imagine them.

Mbube is a South African Saxophone player with a heroin addiction. Thandeka is his childhood friend working in new york as an au pair. A funeral brings Thandeka back to South Africa and she returns to new york with an herbal potion to help Mbube quit heroin.

Director Dennis Dortch has actually surpassed his Kickstarter fundraising goal for his now soon-to-be feature film version of his webseries ‘The Couple.’ In November of 2008, ActNow hosted the NYC premiere of Dennis’ first feature film ‘A Good Day to be Black and Sexy.’
